NEW YORK (Reuters) - Louisville hammered Arizona 103-64 to advance to the last eight of the NCAA tournament on Friday, while last year's champions Kansas were knocked out by Michigan State.

The Midwest region's top-seeded Louisville Cardinals were dominant, leading by as many as 41 at one point.

"It's fun as a coach to watch the guys to be so unselfish," Louisville coach Rick Pitino told reporters.

"This was a dominating offensive performance, fed off of defense and passing."

Arizona coach Bill Benner was also impressed.

"I think there's a reason that Louisville is seeded No. 1 in this tournament, and I think they showed that tonight," Benner said.

Earl Clark led the Cardinals with 19 points.

"I think we played great," Clark said.

"We looked for each other. When we passed the ball, we knocked down shots. When we look for the other, share the ball, we can have great shooting nights every night."

Louisville will face Michigan State in the Midwest regional finals with the winner advancing to the Final Four in Detroit next weekend. The second-seeded Spartans defeated the reigning national champions and third-seed Kansas 67-62.

Goran Suton had 20 points and nine rebounds to lead Michigan State, which overcame a 13-point first half deficit. The Spartans made 16 of their 17 free throw attempts.

In the South Region, top-seeded North Carolina rolled on with a 98-77 win over Gonzaga. They will match up against second seeded Oklahoma on Sunday in Memphis after Oklahoma eased past third seed Syracuse 84-71.
